Hello Alice; My creative adventures with wonderland

I have always been fascinated by the concept of other world. Many storytellers have write and told tales of such worlds. Terry Pratchett’s disc world and Tolkien’s Middle Earth to name just two.
But the stories I most like are of the dream worlds, the lucid floaty worlds that suck you in to there reality. Like The studio Gibli classic, Spirited Away.
But of corse the best know tale has to be about little Alice and her adventures in wonderland.

It’s no wonder I enjoy her fascinate me, given my compilation to believe readerly in other worlds and dimensions. And I adore the strange delight and confusion of Alice’s world . She is both afraid and enraptured by wonderland.
Maybe that’s why since I was first introduced through (shame but true) to Louis Carols wonderful story through the medium of Disney I was hook. I refer to of course Alice and Wonderland. On my eighth birthday I revived a complete works of Louis Carol. I read Alice’s tales and dipped in and out of the book all through my earlier life; though it wasn’t until 17 when I learnt to play Chess and the rest that I understood all of the references. When I got older my mum gave me her copy of Alice through the looking glass from when she was a little girl. I have read it so many time I need a new copy so i don’t ruin my mothers gift. And like many creatives I was hooked.
In my creativity I many a time drawn have I drawn inspiration from such works ad Carols tales of little Alice.
In my last solo exhibition I made an entire body of work based upon my vision of my very own wonderland. In one illustration I pay complete homage to Carol’s story.
My wonderland is also a confusing, surreal place, where nothing is as it seams and any minute my illustration could come to life. Leaving the page and invite me into the upside down art world of their strange and enchanted stylised art.
Originals’ my wonderland collection of my work will be available on sale from my etsy miss pybis shop over the coming weeks.
